Stop Smoking Sheffield
In recent years, you may have made several attempts to quit smoking, but perhaps the timing wasn't ideal, or you successfully quit for a while only to relapse when faced with a significant life event. Now, as you continue to smoke, you might be questioning whether you'll ever be able to break free from this habit and doubting your own potential to achieve your dream of becoming a non-smoker. However, it's important to remember that change is possible if you truly desire it.
How can hypnotherapy help you stop smoking?
Smoking is a tough habit to break because tobacco contains a very addictive chemical called nicotine, so many smokers find that they relapse within the first couple of weeks after quitting.
However, Sheffield’s Focused Hypnosis stop smoking services could help you drop the bad habit for good and introduce healthier choices to your life with the use of hypnosis.
Our Sheffield hypnotherapy services will work with you to help you address the underlying psychological issues that are triggering your smoking habit so that they will not re-emerge later in life.

How does stop smoking hypnotherapy work?
Your hypnotherapist will work with you to challenge the smoking-positive outcome cycle and treat the root cause of your addiction, so you can stop smoking for good and live a healthier lifestyle.
Will hypnotherapy help me stop smoking?
Whilst stop smoking hypnotherapy may help you quit for good, it is not for everyone. If you are not open to hypnosis, you will not be able to achieve the hypnotic state. Stop smoking hypnotherapy is not necessarily a quick fix, so you must have the tenacity to tackle the root cause of your smoking addiction.
Alternative stop smoking methods
If you want to stop smoking, you can use several different treatments alongside Focused Hypnosis’ services to help you beat your addiction and reduce withdrawal symptoms.
NRT is a type of medication that comes in skin patches, chewing gum, inhalers, tablets, nasal, and mouth spray that exposes you to a low nicotine level.
It works to reduce the unpleasant withdrawal effects that smokers often suffer from, leading to relapse. NRT treatment usually lasts for 8 to 12 weeks and is available on prescription or from your pharmacy. However, NRT can cause unpleasant side effects, such as skin irritation, insomnia, vivid dreams, nausea, dizziness, and headaches.
Varenicline, more commonly known as its brand name Champix, is another stop smoking treatment used to simultaneously reduce cravings and block the rewarding effects of smoking. Champix is available on prescription, and a course of treatment usually lasts for 12 weeks.
However, it does have some side effects, such as feeling or being sick, insomnia, vivid dreams, dry mouth, constipation or diarrhoea, headaches, dizziness and drowsiness.
Whilst Bupropion, or Zyban, is usually used to treat depression, it has been found to help people stop smoking, as it’s believed to affect the parts of the brain involved in addictive behaviour.
Bupropion is a tablet taken 1 to 2 times a day and is only available on prescription. You should start the course at least 1 to 2 weeks before stopping smoking, and the treatment usually lasts for 7 to 9 weeks.
However, the treatment can have side effects, such as dry mouth, difficulty sleeping, headaches, feeling and being sick, constipation, difficulty concentrating, and dizziness.
E-cigarettes are probably the most popular stop smoking method, as they rarely have any side effects. They are an electronic device that delivers nicotine in a vapour, so you do not have to inhale harmful smoking chemicals, such as tar and carbon monoxide.
E-cigarettes are normally purchased from a shop and are generally much cheaper than cigarettes.
