Stress & Anxiety Are Linked To Skin Problems
An increase in stress and anxiety levels can often lead to a flare up or an intensification of symptoms. This flare up or worsening of the skin condition often leads to itching, pain, discomfort with how you physically look and soreness (depending of course on your particular condition and where it is on your body).
Skin conditions have 3 main components.
- The condition
- The symptoms
- The reaction to the symptoms
I always work closely with the people I see to establish what is going on at these three points as that can help to find the best direction to tackle the problem from. I recently saw someone with a mild case of eczema. She hated the way it looked and felt and often scratched the area until it bled which made her hate the appearance of it more so she scratched it more.
She became locked in a downward spiral. Through hypnotherapy she was able to improve her ability to relax and to deal with stressful or difficult situations and was also able to stop herself from scratching the area. The result was that in a few short weeks she was able to see a dramatic improvement in the condition of her skin.
